Winter Tree Service in Northern Indiana

Many people think that just because trees are dormant in the winter, they don’t need to be tended to. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Trees need protection and help to come out of the winter months healthy, and there are a variety of ways to do that. Without taking the steps listed below, your trees could be more susceptible to toppling when the ice and snow hits and weighs down their branches.

Winter specific services

Here are the main steps that we can take to make your tree have a happy and healthy hibernation this winter.

Prune
When a tree is in hibernation and free of leaves, it's easy to spot problem branches to trim. Since the tree is dormant, it’s also an ideal time to trim diseased areas, as the diseases themselves are dormant as well and unable to spread when you trim them away.
Mulch
A thin layer of mulch beneath your trees’ drip lines can insulate the roots and surrounding soil from extreme temperatures and slow water loss. We can properly mulch around the trees on your property to keep them safe.
Spray
We can spray trees with an anti-desiccant which covers them in a waxy coating that will help them to preserve their moisture when the weather gets bitterly cold.
Protect
Animals like to chew on trees or even inhabit them in the winter, so we can install tree guards that will keep the critters away and your trees safe.
Wrap
Trees can crack from the intense temperature shifts that winter causes. By wrapping trees with crepe paper tree wrap, it can prevent dangerous cracking that can cause structural damage to the tree.
